Today, July 25th, marks the one year anniversary when my family and I came home from vacation to find our house had been set on fire.
The house had remained untouched, except for my 40 day inventory work, as we waited for the insurance company to do their investigation.
All we know is we did NOT set it on fire.
The insurance company thinks otherwise.
So we have finally begun the task of clearing out stuff and cleaning up what we can.
As I was clearing out a sock drawer, I saw my own handwriting on this yellow piece of paper.
It was a defining moment of truth.
“True ministry is birthed out of your own misery.”
All eyes are on us as we deal with the pain, injustice, accusations, and sorrow of losing our ‘dream house’ to the fire and insurance devastation.
If anything, our faith remains in tact. Our dream will not die. Our vision is all the more clear.
For I trust in God’s Word through it all.
As it says in Psalm 113: “He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap; He seats them with princes,
with the princes of their people. “
